A Message from Pastor Karen Lilli Pax
Changing names has a Biblical precedence - Abram becomes Abraham, Jacob becomes Israel, and Saul becomes Paul. It seems that when God touches us, we change - and sometimes even our name. I haven’t been promised many nations, I haven’t wrestled with an angel, and I am not doing an 180-degree turn in my spiritual leanings; nevertheless my name is also changing. Twenty years after my divorce, I have filed for legal change of name, and as of the first week of this month, my name will be Karen Lilli Pax. Of course it’s still me; but it will feel very different to be called the Latin name for peace. It’s a name I hope to grow into. By God’s grace, and your loving support, I will live into a new name, and find new ways to welcome the stranger into our midst and show the love of God in all we do. See you in church! - Karen
